Easy Home Craft Workshop

Hello and welcome to Easy Home Craft :) This is the cheerful, sunny craft workshop where I sew! In summer I can watch the birds in the feeder by the sewing machine. On long, cold, snowy winter days I light the fire and have a warm and snug room to stitch cozy quilts!

I started this online blog to share my crafts with family and friends, and all those who love quilting and traditional handiwork.

I welcome your submissions, too! Email me to contribute, I’m happy to promote your work and link to your site if you have one: vicki@easyhomecraft.com

I have always been fascinated by turning raw materials into a finished, useful product. As a child I would watch my mother knit – I thought she was very smart to be able to make a sock or mitt, but what really amazed me was that she could make a second one identical to the first. I was hooked and didn’t know it!

When I was first married, I realized it was time to start making my own creations. With the help of a neighbour I learned to knit. I have two daughters who were only too happy to receive the sweaters, hats, legwarmers, mittens and socks.

Next, with the help of beginner books, I taught myself to crochet. I was hooked on doilies, afghans and Christmas ornaments. This lasted until I had ‘enough’!

Several years ago I took a hide slipper making course and immediately knew this was for me! I have been making hide slippers and mittens for a local craft shop ever since.

Quilting has played a role in my ‘craft life’ for quite some time, but it is only in the last couple of years that I have devoted so much time to it….I am addicted…I have to pry myself away from fabric stores!

Of course I have tried some things that are NOT for me – rug hooking, embroidery and making clothes.

So after a life-time of experimenting I continue with my favourite crafts: slipper making (great gifts and extra income); quilts for the special people in my life; and with four grandchildren there are lots of mittens and socks to be knitted!!!

As you may see from the photo of my craft workshop, supporting fellow craftpersons is important to me, and I’ve built up an extensive collection over the years that I’d love to share with you in between new projects of my own.

Thank you for visiting my craft workshop! Please share my page via social bookmarking and leave a comment so I can visit your blog!

Best regards, Vicki
